The winners of the 2022 Science and Technology Award organized by CIESC were announced recently. The “Technology Development and Industrial Application of New Energy-Saving and High-Efficiency Continuous Reforming Packages” jointly applied by Sinochem Quanzhou Petrochemical and other institutions were awarded the Special Prize for Progress in Science and Technology.
The “Technology Development and Industrial Application of New Energy-Saving and High-Efficiency Continuous Reforming Packages” were jointly developed by Sinopec Research Institute of Petroleum Processing and SEI. It has been applied to Quanzhou Petrochemical's 2.6 million tons/year continuous reforming unit and has undergone ceaseless optimization by Quanzhou Petrochemical, thus achieving good results in energy saving and consumption reduction. The technology is China’s first catalyst counter-circulation process. It adopts a new reforming reactor and regenerator and other key equipment innovation and applies energy-saving technologies, such as reforming-aromatics thermal coupling, which effectively improves the yield of main products in the continuous reformer and reduces energy consumption and wear on the catalyst.
During the construction of the plant, Quanzhou Petrochemical continued to carry out technology application research and development in terms of process optimization and organization, while also optimizing its production after its completion. This effort has achieved solid economic and social benefits. The successful commissioning of the 2.6 million tons/year continuous reforming unit marks the successful application of the counter-current continuous reforming technology on a large scale, which is a breakthrough in the development of a large continuous reforming unit in China and provides a solid foundation for large-scale construction.
